The Oklahoma Conservation Commission recently honored George Stunkard at a special luncheon in Wagoner, Oklahoma. George is a long time conservationist, who served on the Wagoner County Conservation District board for over fifty years. He led the Oklahoma Association of Conservation District from 1990 to 1992. In that role he initiated the first Conservation Day at the Oklahoma State Capitol. From 2003 to 2013, he served on the Oklahoma Conservation Commission, where he helped to guide conservation projects statewide.

The Oklahoma Conservation Historical Society is proud to recognize the years of dedicated service George Stunkard has given to the State of Oklahoma championing conservation.  George was a founding member of the Oklahoma Conservation Historical Society and one of the first conservationists to provide his oral history for the Society's Oral History Project.  His oral history can be accessed through the Oklahoma State University library’s digital collections and it can be viewed on YouTube.
