Photographs

Photographs provide an important record of conservation history.

 

Recognizing the need to preserve these valuable records. OCHS has partnered with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), conservation districts, and the Oklahoma Historical Society (OHS) to locate, digitize, and make publicly available these important photographic records.

Photograph of a large audience arriving from a formal meeting (TX-47-952 captures the formal meeting). While this audience is listening to the central voice from the loud speaker on the station wagon, the audience has already begun to break into family and neighbor groups (R4-2061 shows these groups in formation after the loud speaker announcements). Photograph of the Soil Conservation Services Camp [SCS] in Wetumka, Oklahoma. All the trucks at the Wetumka SCS camp are equipped with steps made out of the side boards for loading and unloading. This picture was taken to illustrate the safety report telling of the various safety devices put into effect at the camp. OK-5872.
